MY DAUGHTER, ON HER WEDDING DAY.
By: Aliu-Ahmad Olalekan Gold.
Dear Daughter!
It is necessary that I shed these tears,
Today, marks an end to a story of years,
Destiny says you're no longer my property,
To some extent, you've secured a partial liberty,
Allow me to cry and say these few words,
Because today you're moving to a strange world.
Today shall remain memorable in every way,
Another man has come to take you away,
Not again, you shall bear my name,
But do not forget, to always remain the same,
You are happily married to the man you love,
The reason I believe is importantly enough.
Please, do not ever miss me,
And always offer your hubby, delicious meal,
I have fulfilled all I could, as a father,
Be yourself, as you journey much farther,
I have raised you well, as a good wife,
Never allow bad friends to influence your life.
Be his strength, when life appears tough,
Never pick a race, when living becomes rough,
He would be frustrated and shout at you,
Aggressively behaved and call you a fool,
But never count any word he carelessly uttered,
With patience, the thorns shall be watered.
You are going to a place you'd be left alone,
At all times, address your husband with virtuous tone,
Be active in the kitchen and lazy not on bed,
And always regard him as the crown on your head,
Give him a chance to apologize for his wrong,
And never keep malice with him, all day long.
Give him a chance to love you forever,
And beyond the end of time, you'll be together,
Let him see you as a certain source of peace,
Whatever he could offer, try and be pleased,
I pray for God's favor, mercy and blessing,
But, let this message always be a worthy lesson.
