My country people! Pay me your ears
In our common market of words
Sit! On my eerie chariots of old
Let me tell you a tale of keresimesi
Moons ago before I made my father, a father
Before I made my Grandfather, a grandfather
Maami Agba told me of the 12th month wonder
The Eight wonder of nature enshrouded in no myth
When our fields were draped in a rainbow's frock
When the children danced to the sounds of the mortar
Even as our stomachs rumbles at the sight of Iyan
and our feet, to the tunes of carol songs from the radio
Take me back to the days of the scary man in red
Who visits once in a year, with loads of gifts to share
Take me back I cry, draw back the hour hand I pray
For keresimesi has turned a myth in our hearts
