Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"
Just like every other scriptures, this is a very deep verse that addresses many fundamental doctrines of the new testament.
From the very first sentence: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" the question of who deserves the glory of our service has been settled. There is a way the world can easily misplace praises and redirect the course of focus from God to mortal men. The names of great men re-echoes in our minds and throughout the pages of history remembering their deeds but forgetting their God. There is a fundamental law that guilds
the world system which does not want to conduct her evaluation of things and deeds involving God. However, we must know that the dazzling ray of light oozing out of our being is produced by the Sun of righteousness Himself. Him and Him alone deserves to be praised.
"...which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"
This second aspect of the verse is worthy of note. The cross of Jesus, the crucification of the Lamb of God is the greatest art of kindness eternity will ever know. This is the ultimate climax of mercy to mankind. Christ came into the world not because of basic necessity but because of the unfathomable depth of God's mercy to redeem us from death, corruption and servitude of sin.
"His abundant mercy hath begotten us again into a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"
By His death and resurrection, we are begotten (born) again unto a lively hope. The process at Calvary creates a total regeneration of our being. The cross is not just the force that breaks the tyranny of Sin or the platform that provides us with the privilege for a better life; it is the power of Divinity that renders the natural life of man dead, lifeless, and totally inactive. A new life of God which is the life of victory and dominion is born at the cross.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" 2 Corinthians 5: 17
Our body houses the fullness of God's Deity. He that dwells inside of us is a mystery the the world. The power that set the world on course is mightily at work in us. Amen
Lastly.....
"Unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead"
Overtly, the world is covered by a terrible smog of darkness, sin and hopelessness. Peace is no more in the world. Hearts are broken, dreams are chattered, expectations are crumbled, frustrations in the home, government is confused, and the world seems to be like a chaotic mass of tragedy weaved in the fabrics of time. But by the reason of the cross, peace and hope is restored to humanity. This defiles the compression of our widest imagination. A man who has experienced Jesus will live with great peace in his heart even amidst the world's troubles and confusion.
Have you found Christ for your soul? Are you washed in the precious blood of the Lamb? Is your garm
ent unspotted by the corruption of this fading world? Have you made peace with the Son of God who loves you and gave himself away?... Come to Jesus today..... He will forgive you your sins and give light to your path. Amen.
